Luxury-looking listing photos aren’t about fancy presets—they’re about consistent light, clean verticals, and intentional framing.
The 5-shot warmup
Here’s what we mean in practice:
Before you start the full set, get these right:
- A bright main living space
- Kitchen wide
- Primary bedroom
- Primary bath
- One exterior front
If these feel clean, the rest of the shoot will go fast.
Lighting checklist
- Turn on practicals (lamps) for warmth—*but avoid mixed bulbs*
- Keep window blinds consistent (all open or all closed)
- Watch for blown windows: better to keep the room clean than force window detail everywhere
Quick visual:

Composition notes
- Keep verticals vertical (don’t fight this in post)
- Avoid “too high” camera heights—eye level sells space better
- Remove clutter that competes with the room’s lines
The edit philosophy
Aim for:
- Natural color balance
- Clean midtones
- Consistent contrast room-to-room
Over-sharpening and heavy HDR is what makes photos look cheap.
